For our last day we tried to emcompass everything we’d done in the last week. We started with yet another delicious breakfast. (There is a plate of fruit to the right of the photo)

Then we headed off on our very own walking tour of Bansko stopping at the Holy Trinity Church which was incredible! Unfortunately we didn’t get to the Museum House as it was shutting for lunch, but next time we definitely will.

Then we walked up to the ski slopes to check out the skiers - they were still going strong.

Had a spot of delicious lunch:

And then back to the hotel and pool and our room for some sandwiches.

By the end of the day we have done 14,000 steps and Paul has done 100 lengths of the pool. That should work off some of those chips.

Today we got up and had breakfast and went to the spa. After lunch in our room we had a very long nap! We walked into town taking a muddy “short cut” where we found this very strange thing which I think must be a weir:

We went for a drink in town:

And then a gyro and a pancake (of course). Unfortunately we didn’t take any more photos because it absolutely hammered down and we were too soaking to do anything.

Much of the same today. We went for a walk and had a couple of drinks.

We ate a lovely Giro in town:

We did some shopping so we could eat in the room tonight, and spent the rest of the afternoon in the pool.

Christmas Day!! We woke up and went for a walk. We walked as far as the gondola for the ski runs and stood and watched the skiers for a bit....

Christmas Day!!

We woke up and went for a walk. We walked as far as the gondola for the ski runs and stood and watched the skiers for a bit.

We had a lovely cocktail and coffee (alcohol is ok at 11am on Christmas Day). The town was heaving and every shop was open.

We went to the supermarket and stocked up on lunch so we could prepare Christmas dinner;

We of course went to the pool for hours! But we did not go in this ice room which I think is the coldest place on earth with the coldest water on earth.

Then back to the hotel restaurant for a Christmas dinner which took 2 hours and 49 minutes!!!! I don’t think I’ve ever sat for so long in a meal before.

But we ended with a garash which was delicious!

We arrived in Bansko, after a 2 1/2 hour transfer, at 3:20am. We got up to have breakfast unpacked and promptly fell into a nap.

Our hotel, St Ivan Rilski, is absolutely lovely. We had a little walk around and spent the afternoon in the spa.

To finish the night we had a gala meal in the Bulgarian restaurant where we got to try loads of different types of Bulgarian food. It was... interesting?
