Today we mostly just chilled out at the campsite as it was too wet and windy to do any of the outdoor plans we had.

It was actually really nice to just chill.

We did go for a rose bier at PUUR.

We picked up from frites from the fritueuur and popped them in the basket.

It was delicious, we had bitterballen (like stroganoff deep fried) and kipcorn (chicken something) and lots and lots of mayo.

This is how much Mayo we had left (and we like mayo)

This morning we had a bit of a slow start. We slept so well we didn't want to get up and then the gas wouldn't work (turned out we plugged in the fridge not the stove). We had an all day breakfast on toast and spam sandwich and then tried to inflate the tires of the bike. After we managed all that it started to rain! Bad!

So instead of cycling to the ferry we went shopping in Sluise.

We had a Croque-Monsieur and some lovely frites.

Everywhere we go everyone always speaks perfect English! "Do you speak English?", "Of course"!

We went to a chocolate cafe.

Everything here is super pretty. All the streets are cobbled and all the buildings look lovely.

Even the road (such as they are) are lovely. (The roads are only about a car width because each side has a cycle path - there is barely anyone on the roads though.)

We also went shopping in Lidl (mostly to pick up some fritessaus) and went to Breskens to the super market (mostly for rosé bier).

This evening we had burgers and salad and some kind of fish/meat/humous type thing. We also had cheese and bacon in a sweet pancake - I guess that's what happens when you don't speak the language, and we had chocolate pancakes! Yummy!

Today I got up nice and early and went to get some bread from the winkle on my bike.

We cycled to Breskens (9.3 miles) and had a coffee

and of course some Kibberling.

We went to the supermarket and filled our bikes with food for tonight and tomorrow morning and then cycled back along the dunes!

After a little rest we went for a paddle in the sea

and to PUUR for a drink and some appetisers, as you can see I was too tired to pour my beer with two hands.

and now to eat the food that we picked up in Breskens.

Today we left Gran's at 8:00, we got on an early tunnel crossing.

We drove through France and Belgium and into the Netherlands. It seemed to take ages it was very rainy and we had to take a diversion through the centre of a town but it was ok. It was still pretty rainy when we arrived and the shops on site were closed so instead we went to the restaurant over the dunes - PUUR. We had bread and three fish started and then prawns and scallops pasta.

Now we're in the tent having some hot chocolate and playing battleships.

Slept pretty well despite the wind rattling the tent all night. Woke up at one point to a little bang and a jolt and got up this morning to find the trailer tent collapsed.

We went into town after an extremely long breakfast, found an amazing car park and had a lovely day.

We walked the entire promenade and "kicked the bar"

So we're giving Aberystwyth another go. It didn't start well when I received a phone call earlier today stating that we may want to reconsider coming because of high winds. Well we've decided to give it a go an so far so good.

Today was manic! We didn't want to risk missing anything because of Christmas so we booked to do everything today. First we went to the elephant sanctuary and saw some bathing and being fed (we did feed one bananas but unfortunately we don't have any photos :()

Then Sigirya on Caroline's recommendation it was brilliant but blimey it was hard work in the heat! (Over 30 degrees). It's amazing - there was a castle on the top of this mountain.

So we drove for about ten hours and o slept for about seven of them. Which is great but I missed all the drama of being stopped still in traffic for an hour and half. We arrived back just in time for the Christmas Eve gala and I have never seen so much food!
